I used to love ordering the blooming onion from Outback Steakhouse; it was always so fun to eat and looked just like a flower. The tender, soft onions wrapped in a crispy, golden batter made it a childhood favorite of mine. So when I heard you could find a version in the frozen section at Trader Joe’s, I had to try it. Reviews and Rating

Based on the air fryer instructions, the onion turned out soggy and gummy in the center, while the edges crisped up nicely. Next time, I will need to experiment with air frying it a little longer to get a more even texture throughout. The onions themselves were soft with a pleasant natural sweetness, but the seasoning was pretty minimal, so a dipping sauce is definitely needed. Overall, it didn’t quite satisfy my craving for a classic blooming onion.
