Mango sticky rice is one of the ultimate summer desserts, which makes this the perfect seasonal release from Trader Joe’s. This beloved Thai dessert is known for its sweet, juicy mango, chewy sticky rice, and rich, creamy coconut sauce. But can Trader Joe’s frozen version live up to the authentic dessert? Read my Trader Joe’s Mango Sticky Rice review to see how it tastes, how it compares to the real thing, and whether I would buy it again.

Product Overview
A box of Trader Joe’s Mango Sticky Rice costs $4.69 and includes two individual servings. Each serving comes in its own paper tray with plastic packaging. Every tray also includes a small packet of crispy fried mung beans, which adds a delicious crunchy topping to the sweet and creamy sticky rice.

Taste Test & Review
Trader Joe’s version uses small chunks of mango instead of the traditional sliced or whole mango. I actually found this more convenient since you can enjoy everything with just a spoon. The mango pieces were ripe, naturally sweet, and had a fresh tropical flavor. I was a little concerned that the mango might become too warm after microwaving, but that wasn’t an issue. Some of the pieces softened into an almost purée-like consistency, which blended nicely with the creamy coconut sticky rice. The sticky rice was surprisingly well done. Even after being microwaved, it remained soft, chewy, and sticky. The coconut sauce added a rich creaminess that tied everything together, while the crispy fried mung beans provided a nice crunchy contrast. I would purchase again!
