Cannelés are a French pastry from Bordeaux, known for their small size, dark caramelized crust, and soft, custardy interior. Although I’ve never had an authentic cannelé before, I will be sharing my thoughts on the Trader Joe’s Canneles as a first-timer.

Product Overview
The canneles come in a small purple box in the freezer section, with four pieces per box. Priced at $3.99, each one comes out to about $1 per cannele, making it an affordable treat compared to bakeries.

Rating and Review
I’ve never had an authentic cannelé before, but the exterior had a slightly waxy, chewy texture. The custard filling was smooth, creamy, eggy, and perfectly sweet. They are on the smaller side; I could easily finish the whole box in one sitting. For this review, I followed the oven instructions. The filling kinda reminds me of an egg tard filling.
