Trader Joe’s sells macarons and ice cream, but I never expected to find macaron ice cream sandwiches there. Until now, I’d only seen them in bakeries, so it’s exciting to have them available at a local Trader Joe’s. Keep reading for my review on the Trader Joe’s Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches!

What are Macarons?
Macarons are delicate French sandwich cookies made primarily with almond flour, egg whites, and sugar. They have a crisp outer shell and a sweet, chewy interior. Typically, they are filled with ganache or buttercream. Macarons come in a variety of flavors, such as fruity or chocolatey, and are available in many vibrant colors. Their elegant appearance makes them a wonderful gift.
Trader Joe’s Macaron Ice Cream Sandwiches Rating
Each box contained two individually wrapped macaron ice cream sandwiches and was priced at $4.99, making each sandwich around $2.50. This is on the pricier side compared to other Trader Joe’s dessert items, but macarons are known as a premium item.

The macarons were generally delicate and airy, but when I took a bite, some parts were unexpectedly hard, which I found unpleasant. The size is similar to the actual size of macarons. The chocolate ice cream itself was creamy and rich, with a deep chocolate flavor. However, the hard macaron pieces made it difficult to fully enjoy the ice cream sandwich. I let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes, but perhaps next time, I should let it sit longer to allow the macaron cookie to soften completely.
