Who would have thought that bubble tea would be sold at a local Costco store? I’ve seen a lot of boba tea products in grocery stores: instant boba packs, boba mochi, and boba baked goods, but I have never seen the whole drink itself—drink in a boba cup and the straw. Joyba Bubble tea at Costco comes in two delicious flavors: mango passionfruit and strawberry lemonade.
Joyba Bubble Tea at Costco Rating
These are a great substitute for actual boba drinks. I personally enjoyed it because it wasn’t too sweet—I always get half sweetness for my drinks at boba shops. Both flavors can be a bit bland as the tea flavor profile wasn’t as strong. The flavor strength is comparable to a Capri Sun. If you opt for more of the sweeter drinks at the boba shops, I don’t think you will enjoy it as much as I did.
The poppers felt like they had thicker skin than traditional boba poppers at the shop. When it pops, it might feel odd for some people since it kinda lingers around. Sometimes, the bubble skin gets stuck in my teeth.
Joyba Costco Packaging
The drinks come in a shape reminiscent of a traditional boba cup. There’s a little indention at the side of the cups where you can take out a straw. The straw is extendible. My only problem with the straw is that it retracts so easily, and I struggle to suck in the poppers. I find the idea innovative, but it’s a bit lacking in functionality. To drink all the poppers, I have to remove the lid at the end.
Joyba Pricing
It is $13.99 for the 8-pack at Austin’s Costco, so each cup is $1.75. The pack comes with four mango passion fruit green teas and four strawberry lemonade green teas. Each cup is 12 fl ounces or 355 ml. Not a bad deal since boba drinks are averaging $6.00.
Joyba Nutritional Facts
Each drink is 130 calories. The macros on it are 30-31 grams of carbohydrates and 28-30 grams of sugar, so it definitely isn’t a healthy treat.
Where to find it?
It’s a hit or miss at the Austin Costco location. Sometimes, it was in stock, and other times it was out of stock. You can buy it online at either Walmart or Target.
