The brand that brought you the viral Peach Ice Cream and Pompitous Mango released several new flavors earlier this year. I picked up the Peach Mountain Ice Cream at my local Hmart, where it was stocked in the same freezer section as the original flavors. Read on to find out if the new Hong Qi Blue Peach Mountain Ice Cream lives up to the original.

About Hong Qi
Hong Qi is a Chinese brand that went viral for its lifelike, fruit-shaped ice cream. With eye-catching packaging and a striking resemblance to real fruit, it became a social media sensation and quickly sold out in many Asian markets. The ice cream typically features a white chocolate outer shell with a smooth, creamy center. Its most popular flavors are Peach and Mango.
Hong Qi Blue Peach Mountain Ice Cream Rating
I picked up a box of the new Hong Qi Peach Mountain Ice Cream at Hmart in Austin, Texas, for $9.99, which comes out to about $3.33 per bar. Although it was marked as discounted, I’ve only ever seen Hong Qi ice creams at that price point. Each box contains three bars. This new flavor features a blue, mountain-shaped exterior. Like the original, it has a white chocolate shell, but the ice cream inside is smooth and milk-flavored. Unlike the original peach version, the flavor is more subtle, with a milky sweetness reminiscent of White Rabbit candy. It’s noticeably blander than the original peach, which had a more pronounced fruit flavor. While the Blue Peach Mountain version does include a peach jam center, the small amount makes it less peach-forward overall. In the end, I prefer the original.
