Tokyo Banana is a beloved and popular Japanese souvenir, popular among tourists worldwide. Often purchased at Japanese airports, these meticulously packaged sweet treats make for the perfect thoughtful gift for family and friends. Typically, Tokyo Banana is only available in Japan, but now you can find it at your local Hmart! I also spotted it on Amazon, where it’s being sold for a hefty $60. Here is my Hmart Tokyo Banana review! I picked it up at a Hmart in Austin, Texas.
Who makes Tokyo Banana?
A Japanese confectionery company called Grapestone Co produces Tokyo Banana. They also offer other high-quality, beautifully packaged sweets.
Hmart Tokyo Banana Rating
When you buy Tokyo Banana at Hmart, it comes frozen. Simply thaw it for a few hours, and it’s ready to enjoy. Tokyo Banana is a delicate vanilla sponge cake filled with creamy banana custard. Each bite is so light and airy that it’s hard not to eat several pieces in one sitting. Even better, it’s not overly sweet — the ultimate compliment for an Asian dessert.
I bought an 8-piece box at Hmart on sale for $10.99, which I think is a great deal. At a higher price, I might hesitate since it’s still a bit pricey. According to the Hmart website, the original price is $22.99, though I’m not sure how accurate that is. The banana filling tastes very natural, so once thawed, you’ll need to consume the pieces within ten days.
