Here, I’ve gathered some of my favorite cold dessert spots in Austin, ranging from a gelato food trailer and Korean bingsu to Asian soft serve and New Zealand–style ice cream. Something for every craving.
Kessho

Kessho is a gelato food trailer known for its unique Asian-inspired flavors. Some of my favorite flavors include the lychee raspberry rose and guava plum gelato. Both flavors are not too sweet, refreshing, floral, and perfectly balanced. The gelato has an incredibly silky-smooth texture that feels rich and creamy without being heavy. You can also order one of their cookies and pair it with your favorite gelato flavor for the ultimate sweet treat.

Wicked Snow
Ambiance: Casual and spacious spot near Hmart Plaza

Wicked Snow is my favorite bingsu spot in the city. Their shaved milk ice is incredibly milky and creamy, almost cloud-like in texture. They offer a range of Korean and fruit flavors, but my personal favorite is the Wicked Gold. Wicked Gold is a shaved ice coated in injeolmi powder with rice cakes topping, plus a generous spoonful of red bean paste on top and right in the center. The flavors come together so well, and I love the nutty depth the injeolmi powder adds.

OMG Squee
Ambiance: Outdoor seating only.

This is my favorite soft serve spot. The soft serve is so smooth and creamy, and I love that you can pick your own twist flavors. I typically go for something with ube. You customize everything yourself: the fish taiyaki cone, the fish filling, the soft serve flavor, and a topping of choice.

Zedd’s
Ambiance: Outdoor Seating only

Zedd’s is a New Zealand–style ice cream spot with a simple order-and-go setup, plus an outdoor patio if you would rather stay and enjoy it on-site. You pick an ice cream flavor and a natural frozen fruit of choice, and they blend it fresh right there with their machines. Want to level it up? You can add a drizzle or toppings for a small extra fee. The ice cream itself is wonderfully creamy without being too sweet.
