What is Ube?
Ube is a purple yam that originated in the Philippines. Known for its deep, vibrant purple color, it is often mistaken for a purple sweet potato. Ube is a staple in Filipino cuisine and is commonly used as a flavor in desserts such as bread, cakes, ice cream, and more. It is gaining traction in America as prevalent in the ube shake at Jack in the Box and ube sweets at Trader Joe’s.
