What is Chili Oil?
Chili oil is a popular condiment in Asian cuisine, typically made by infusing dried chili peppers with oil. It can be used to elevate a wide variety of dishes, including noodles, toast, dumplings, and vegetables. At one point, pouring chili oil on ice cream even became a trend.
10 Minute Chili Oil Noodle Recipe Ingredients
- 1/2 tablespoon dark soy sauce: It is richer and thicker than regular soy sauce, with a longer aging process that deepens its flavor. If you don’t have dark soy sauce at home, you can always use regular soy sauce as a substitute.
- 1/2 tablespoon light soy sauce: As the name suggests, the soy sauce is lighter in color and has a shorter fermentation process.
- 2-3 green onions, chopped
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Chili oil, to taste
- Noodles (1-2 serving sizes): can be any noodle, but I like using wide hand-cut noodles.
