Spicy Tuna Melt

This easy Spicy Tuna Melt combines creamy tuna salad with crunchy cucumber, red onion, pickles, and spicy jalapeños, all melted together with gooey cheese between crispy, buttery bread. Kewpie mayonnaise adds extra richness, while Greek yogurt makes the filling creamy without making it too heavy.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans tuna drained
  • ¼ cup cucumber finely diced
  • ¼ cup red onion finely diced
  • 1 tablespoon pickles finely chopped
  • 1 –2 tablespoons jalapeños finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard optional
  • 2 tablespoons Kewpie mayonnaise
  • 1 –2 tablespoons Greek yogurt optional
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • Bread
  • Cheese your choice
  • Butter for spreading

Instructions

  • Add the drained tuna, cucumber, red onion, pickles, jalapeños, Dijon mustard, Kewpie mayonnaise, and Greek yogurt to a bowl. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  • Mix until everything is well combined. Taste and adjust the seasoning or jalapeños to your preference.
  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Place the bread butter-side down and spoon the tuna mixture onto the unbuttered side. Spread it evenly, then add a generous layer of cheese on top.
  • Place another slice of bread on top with the buttered side facing outward.
  • Heat a skillet over low to medium-low heat. Once warm, place the sandwich butter-side down in the skillet.
  • Cover the skillet with a lid and cook slowly for about 3–5 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt.
  • Carefully flip the sandwich and continue cooking until the second side is golden brown and crispy and the cheese is fully melted.
  • Keeping the heat low helps the bread become crispy without burning before the cheese has a chance to melt.
  • Remove from the skillet, let it cool for a minute, then slice in half and serve hot.
  • Enjoy your crispy, cheesy, spicy tuna melt!
