Blondie Brownie Recipe From Scratch

A rich and chewy dessert bar that combines fudgy brownies with soft, buttery blondies. These swirled brookie bars are loaded with chocolate and baked to the perfect gooey texture.

Ingredients

  • Brownie Layer:
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • Blondie Layer:
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup + 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine melted butter and melted chocolate chips. Stir until smooth and glossy.
  • Add granulated sugar and brown sugar, whisking until fully combined.
  • Mix in the eggs and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Fold in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder (sift if you want an extra smooth batter). Set aside.
  • In another bowl, whisk together melted butter and brown sugar until combined.
  • Add the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  • Mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Line a baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Scoop half of the brownie batter into the pan in separate sections.
  • Add all of the blondie batter on top.
  • Finish by adding the remaining brownie batter in dollops.
  • Use a knife or toothpick to gently swirl for a marbled effect.
  • Bake at 350°F for 30–33 minutes, or until the center is just set.
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan before slicing for clean cuts.
