I remember coming across a viral Tik Tok video that featured this clever and quick salmon rice bowl recipe. Many content creators were recreating the salmon rice bowl recipe—which the recipe originated from Emily Mariko. With all the immense attention, I had to try it out for myself! Since then, I’ve been hooked and eat this on a weekly basis.
Why did the Tik Tok Salmon Rice Bowl Recipe become viral?
The viral Tik Tok salmon rice bowl recreated salmon leftovers and took it to a whole new culinary level! Emily was seen in her video throwing leftover salmon and other ingredients together in a bowl. The viral Tik Tol Salmon rice bowl has everything that’s super macro friendly—it has carbs, protein, and healthy fats. It’s basically a dissembled spicy salmon sushi roll.
What ingredients made it stand out?
Kewpie Mayo: The Japanese mayonnaise is made from only egg yolks and contains MSG. With small doses of MSG, it’s no wonder why this condiment is so addictive.
Sriracha: Originated in California, it is a spicy hot sauce made from chili peppers, vinegar, garlic, and salt. There’s a slight acidity from the vinegar that makes this dish stands out even more.
Nori or Seaweed Sheets: It is crispy and light with a natural lingering taste, reminiscent of the ocean’s saltiness. I grabbed mine from my local Costco in Austin. Nori is a type of superfood packed with vitamins and nutrients like Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, K, niacin, and folic acid.
