Trader Joe’s Shrimp Noodle Rolls pay homage to a Chinese classic, cheung fun, featuring a delicate rice paper wrapper filled with shrimp, rice noodles, vegetables, and herbs. These shrimp rolls are served with a generous amount of sweetly seasoned soy sauce and are commonly found in Dim Sum restaurants.
The translucent rice paper wrapping highlights the fresh ingredients inside, creating a visually appealing dish. Originating in the Guangdong Province of Southern China, cheung fun is believed to date back to the 1930s. Traditionally steamed in restaurant settings, these Shrimp Noodle Rolls can also be pan-fried for a crispier texture.

For a limited time, you can find Trader Joe’s Shrimp Noodle Rolls for $3.99. Each package contains eight rolls, with a total of four servings!

Trader Joe’s Shrimp Noodle Rolls Review
In my opinion, Trader Joe’s Shrimp Noodle Rolls are about 80% of the way there when compared to those served in restaurants. I personally enjoyed them and was satisfied with the results when preparing them.
I tested two cooking methods: the traditional steaming method and pan-frying. Overall, I prefer the classic steaming method, but if you enjoy a more dumpling-like texture, pan-frying might be the way to go. When steamed, the rice roll wrapper had a slightly chewier texture than I would have liked, but the shrimp’s flavor and texture were spot on. When pan-fried, the rolls reminded me more of dumplings, and I really enjoyed the added crispiness.
Overall, I recommend this product and would buy it again whenever I’m craving Shrimp Noodle Rolls.
P.S. Be sure to make your own sweet soy sauce—just like they do in restaurants!

Cooking Instructions
Heat Oil: Add a small amount of oil to a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
Cook One Side: Place the frozen rolls in the skillet and cook for 4-5 minutes until the bottom turns golden brown.

Add Water and Steam: Flip the rolls, add a splash of water to the pan, cover, and let them steam for another 4-5 minutes until fully heated.

Serve: Remove and enjoy with your preferred dipping sauce.
Storage after cooking
There is no Trader Joe’s recommendation for storage after cooking, but I recommend you eat these the same day or store them up to a day later for consumption.
