Trader Joe’s just dropped their Japanese Mini Taiyaki! Taiyaki is a popular Japanese street food shaped like a fish. It typically comes with fillings like red bean paste, custard, chocolate, or even matcha cream. Trader Joe’s version is filled with custard only. Read on to see my review of the Trader Joe’s Japanese Mini Taiyaki.

Trader Joe’s Japanese Mini Taiyaki Rating
Each pack comes with 8 mini Taiyaki pieces and costs $4.99, making it a pretty good deal. Just pop them in the air fryer for 6–8 minutes, and they come out deliciously crispy. My review is based on air frying them for 8 minutes — they came out golden brown. The filling was creamy, custardy, and not too sweet. I thought the custard-to-pastry ratio was perfectly balanced.
