Often times, I indulge in bubble waffles from boba shops such as Happy Lemon, typically priced around $8. So when Trader Joe’s introduced their own version bubble waffles for just $4.49, I simply couldn’t resist grabbing one at such a steal.
What is Bubble Waffle?
Bubble waffle is a dessert or popular street food that originated in Hong Kong. It earns its name from the bubble or puff shapes on its surface. A good bubble waffle should have crispy edges and a fluffy interior. Some bubble waffles contain mochi inside, providing an addictively sticky and stretchy texture. People typically enjoy it with toppings such as fruits and ice cream.
Trader Joe’s Bubble Waffles Rating
This has quickly become one of my new favorite frozen items at Trader Joe’s. After popping it into the air fryer, the bubble waffles came out with wonderfully crispy edges and soft insides. Each box costs $4.49 and contains four bubble waffles, making each waffle approximately over a $1. It’s worth noting that Trader Joe’s bubble waffles are smaller than those typically sold at dessert and boba shops. To elevate the bubble waffles, you can always add fresh fruits like strawberries, sauce like drizzled condensed milk, or even a scoop of ice cream.
