This past week, The Salty Donut opened its door to the South Congress area in Austin, Texas. It is an artisanal donut shop with its original location in Miami, Florida. Their yeast-raised donuts are all made from their 24- hour Brioche recipe. Boy, oh boy, this recipe concocts donuts that are airy, buttery, and fluffy.

The Salty Donut Rating
The Salty Donut had so many creative flavors that I’m not used to seeing at a typical donut shop’s menu. They had 12 different flavors; the cashier also mentioned that each The Salty Donut location had a specialty flavor. For this particular location, it was the Prickly Pear Margarita flavor. All of the yeast donuts were full of volume, incredibly light, and airy. The exotic flavors were all made from natural ingredients—none were artificial!
Price
The pricing for these donuts ranged from $2.95 – $4.95. They even offered a doggie donut. The steeper pricing for these donuts was completely justifiable due to the quality ingredients.
The Breakdown
Cornflake Cereal Milk: I enjoyed this flavor! The milky glaze was not too sweet and was nicely paired with the crunchiness from the cornflakes and the mascarpone whip topping.
Prickly Pear Margarita: The cookie top was oddly soft, but the subtle tart flavor from the dragon passion glaze was a nice switch from the other sweet flavors. The crushed graham crackers added a nice additional touch.
