I saw one of my favorite food Youtubers mention good things about Suji’s Taiyaki product at Costco, and I wanted to see if it was worth the high praise.
About Suji’s Asian Cuisine
Suji is the CEO and founder of Suji’s Asian Cuisine. What started as a 30-seated Korean restaurant in Seoul transformed into the first international company that provides more accessibility to Korean products within the U.S market. The company partnered up with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to make this goal come to fruition. To find more about Suji’s Asian Cuisine, check out their site here.
What is Taiyaki?
Taiyaki is a Japanese snack shaped in a red sea bream. To create the fish shape, the taiyaki batter is poured into a fish-mold waffle maker. The filling is added to one side of the mold and then closed to finish off the cooking process. The most common filling is sweet azuki bean paste or custard.
Suji’s Taiyaki Rating
Suji’s Taiyakis were incredible! it was super airy and crispy per air-fryer instructions. The filling to batter ratio was satisfyingly perfect. All the three filling flavors—vanilla custard, red bean/cinnamon, and chocolate cream— weren’t too sweet to the point it would overpower the batter. At Austin Costco, Suji’s Taiyaki is $11.49 for 30 pieces. There are 10 pieces for each flavor. The only downside to the taiyaki was how small the pieces were.
Suji Taiyaki’s Nutrition Facts
