I recently visited my local 99 Ranch. As I strolled through the freezer aisle, I stumbled upon this Meet Fresh red bean soup meal kit. I knew right away that I needed to try this out.
Meet Fresh is a Taiwanese dessert franchise that opened its doors in 2007. With a mission to prioritize healthy desserts, it’s no wonder that both the younger and older generations frequent the establishment.

With a price tag of $9.89 at 99 Ranch Austin, I recommend this product to the Meet Fresh fanatics. Since there isn’t a location in Austin, this is a great substitute. Overall, the dessert wasn’t too sweet. The red bean mixture was soupy with red bean bits and the starch balls were bouncy and soft. Coming from the actual Meet Fresh menu, this Meet Fresh red soup item tasted just like the ones served at the restaurant.
My only complaint was the box instructions. It listed instructions to boil the red bean pouch for 5-7 minutes. I boiled it for an additional two minutes to get it completely defrosted.
The picture that is shown on the box actually looked like the final results.
The nutritional value of this special treat is not too shabby. There are 220 calories per serving. 90 calories are from the toppings and 130 calories are from the red bean paste.
There were two pouches of the toppings for the meal kit. One pouch consisted of the sweet potato starch balls while the other pouch consisted of the taro starch balls. The largest pouch had the main red bean paste soup.
Meet Fresh Box Instructions
Add taro/sweet potato balls to the boiling water and cook at high heat.
Once the balls float to the top, turn to low heat and cook for an additional 45 – 60 seconds.
Boil a pot of hot water and add the packaged red bean soup into the pot. Cook for 5-7 minutes at mid-high heat. Cup the package and pour the red bean soup into a bowl.
Add the toppings to the red bean soup and enjoy!
