What is Mango Sago?
Sago is a starchy substance extracted from palm trees, notably the sago palm. The pearls are translucent and chewy, with a texture similar to tapioca pearls. It is often used in many Asian dishes, but one of the most popular desserts is mango sago, which originated from Hong Kong but is popular in many Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and others.
Sago Ingredients
- 3 ripe mangoes
- 1/2 cup sago (tapioca pearls)
- 3/4 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
- Sweetened condensed milk (to taste)
- Coconut jelly
- Ice (optional)

Instructions
Prepare the sago according to package instructions. Rinse under cold water and set aside.
Dice all three mangoes. Set aside about 1 cup of diced mango for topping.

Add the remaining mango pieces to a blender. Pour in the coconut milk and, then blend until smooth.
In a serving bowl, combine the cooked sago, coconut jelly, reserved mango pieces, mango purée, a drizzle of condensed milk, and milk.


Optional: Add ice for an extra refreshing treat.

Enjoy chilled!

Easy Mango Sago Tips
- Rinse the sago well to prevent it from becoming too starchy.
- Stir the sago occasionally so it does not stick to the bottom of the pan.
- Use ripe and sweet mangoes for the best flavor.
- Store in the fridge until chilled or add ice.
Storage Tips
Store in the fridge in an airtight container for 2-3 days. Mangoes will start becoming bad after a few days.
