I rarely eat Mediterranean food, so I decided to venture out and try USTA Kababgy Austin. I’ve heard good things about USTA Kababgy Austin and even saw it on a popular Austin food blogger’s Best Takeout in Austin 2021 list. Continute reading to check out my overall thoughts on USTA Kababgy.
About USTA Kababgy
USTA Kababy’s mission is to provide quality Mediterranean food in Austin, as it is difficult to come across in the city. According to their website, the owners spent two months perfecting the recipes on the menu. They grill all their meats over charcoal and wanted to make affordable big portions for their customers.
USTA Kababgy Austin Rating
I found that all the entrees on the USTA Kababgy menu were affordable for what it was. Between my partner and I, we shared a Lahmajun and the kebab plate, and still had leftovers! When you check in on Yelp, you can get one free medium hot tea pot.
Cuisine: Halal, Mediterranean
Pricing: $
Ambiance: Casual, Trendy
Intolerances: Many vegetarian options
Turkish Lahmajun ($8.99)
This is basically an airy flatbread with a tomato-based sauce. The ground meat spices tasted the same as the kebabs—which were flavorful; this was a really generous portion entree. Overall, it was light and delicious, and I highly recommend.
Hummus with Fresk Baked Pita ($5.99)
The hummus was so creamy and airy with a nutty aftertaste. I feel like it was one of the top hummuses I’ve tried. The pita bread was addictively fluffy.
Iraqi Kebab Plate ($13.99)
The Iraqi kebabs were seasoned well—it is a good mix of lamb and beef. As the website states, the restaurant grills all the meats over charcoal. The plate came with yellow rice, a light salad, and hummus. Overall, the kebab plate was a generous portion, even as a take-out order.
